“Salt Lake City Mission saved my life! I have obtained my Bachelor degree through the Sure Foundation and I would like to attend the University of Utah to obtain my counseling degree to help troubled teenagers. Now, I have my kids back in my life and am an example to those who come into program after me.”

“The Mission Rescued me from a severe addiction to pain pills and a life of hell. Had it not been for the Salt Lake City Mission, I know I would have died alone in my darkness. Thank you Lord Jesus for sending me there to the Salt Lake City Mission to learn of You and your healing. I owe You my life!!”

Jesus said:

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Enter, you who are blessed by my Father! Take what’s coming to you in this kingdom. It’s been ready for you since the world’s foundation. And here’s why: I was hungry and you fed me, I was thirsty and you gave me a drink, I was homeless and you gave me a room, I was shivering and you gave me clothes, I was sick and you stopped to visit, I was in prison and you came to me.”

Matthew 25:34-40 (Message Bible)

Why Are We Called To Fight Poverty?

They are hungry and hurting men, women and children. Contrary to popular belief, the fastest growing population of poverty and homelessness is women with children under the age of nine — they are your neighbors. They are ordinary people and not the labels like: homeless, drug addicts, alcoholics, mentally ill, ex-cons, felons, etc.

These are the labels that have been placed on them to remove them from humanity. So that we can justify not doing much or anything to help them.

“For more than 25 years of ministry here in Salt Lake, I have found that people experiencing homelessness are from all walks of life. They are from every fabric and every class of society. They are doctors, lawyers, dentists, CEOs, millionaires, professors, educators, teachers, construction workers, diesel mechanics, computer technicians, business owners, laborers, migrant workers, custodians, the mentally ill, the addicted, veterans with PTSD, state-raised children, the abused…”

Pastor Wayne Wilson, CEO

369,000 Utah residents live under the national poverty line, and more than 420,000 suffer from hunger. Many of our neighbors don’t know where their next meal is coming from.

Every one of us could end up in the same situation. Some of life’s devastating blows are enough to leave us out on the street. It can be a financial, physical, mental health problem, or anything beyond what we can handle to leave us on streets. And we can be left trying to drown out our pain and sorrows right along those we turn away from on a daily basis!

If you have tried everything and help from every agency and organization. If you have found yourself in a situation that you know that only GOD can mend and deliver you from.

So, wouldn’t you want God’s help? Wouldn’t want God’s chosen people to help you and let him love and help you through them? Well, we have good news for you!

The question we should be asking ourselves is:

Why Us?

God established the Salt Lake City Mission in 1993. He built us on His rock so He can love and transform those that need help the most through us.  God has called, chosen and ordained us to work in this ministry. Salt Lake City Mission strives to be the catalyst for linking communities together to fight poverty.

With Salt Lake City Mission, you can become a part of a powerful movement. By teaming together, we can combine our individual abilities and resources, to help some of the most vulnerable men, women, and children in our community. A little bit may not seem like much but if your contribution is joined with others, we have the capacity to move mountains.

God Will Bless YOU for Giving!
