I want to invite you to drop by our outreach center some time soon to check out what we are doing and spend a few moments with one of our guests by simply listening to their story. Then you would experience the miracles that are happening here at the Mission.
You might even meet Mark O’Rielly and hear his real life story firsthand: “I was at a complete stop when a car doing 80 mph rear ended me. I was almost killed.”
After hospitalization things did not get much better. “I had suffered a severe brain injury and was unable to work.”
All supports for life then ran out. “I lost most material things. I was looking for hope that my life and soul could be repaired.”
That’s when Mark found Salt Lake City Mission and came in.
“Everyone here knew and understood my pain and my weaknesses. I learned I had also put burdens upon myself. I finally cried out to our Lord and Savior and believed in His grace, His mercy and His love – that He could help me get back up again!
Mark’s circumstances are unique, but one thing is common among everybody we help: each one is hurt, in distress and searching for solutions for their shattered life.
We try our best to rescue people before it is too late – to be God’s last safety net – and unsurprisingly that often begins with a much needed meal.
That is why we want to serve delicious Thanksgiving dinners to anyone who is homeless, hungry, lost, lonely, discouraged or without hope! No one should be hungry on Thanksgiving! So, on Thanksgiving Day we have access to a large, indoor basketball court sized area(and adjacent kitchen) where we’ll set up tables and serve FREE Thanksgiving dinners between 9 am and 3 pm. We are expecting hundreds of people!
We’ll even run FREE shuttles all day for homeless people all over the Salt Lake metro area because it is simply too far for them to walk.
We never charge people for any of our services! But we cannot do this alone. We need your help. We need you!
Please return the enclosed Meal Ticket with your Thanksgiving gift to provide mouth watering dinners of roast turkey, candied yams, green beans, a hot buttered roll, coffee, fruit drinks and a slice of pumpkin pie for hungry people, who inside, also crave hope – just like Mark desperately needed and then experienced!
Mark is now serving that spiritual food of hope along with Thanksgiving dinners to others – and you can too!
Your gift becomes a part of God’s miracles in the lives of hurting people.
We can provide these meals for just about $1.98 because of donated food, volunteers and special deals!
Your gift of $19.80 will feed 10 precious souls a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. A gift of $39.60 can make this Thanksgiving special for 20 people. And, $198.00 will provide 100 of our neediest neighbors with a Thanksgiving dinner and hope.
