Utah Food Service Will Host The 24th annual Thanksgiving Banquet at the Vivint arena. A City-Wide Event to Feed the Hungry and Homeless
Utah Food Service has been serving the Salt Lake Region for over 30 years. Since 1994 Utah Food Service has been providing food and volunteers as they host the annual Thanksgiving meal at the Vivint Smart Home Arena. This year’s event will be on November 19, 2018 in partnership with the Utah Jazz and Salt Lake City Mission.
“We love providing for the needs in our communities here in Salt Lake. We do so, because it is the right thing to do. For us it is easy to provide. We want to give back to a good cause. Watching all of this food go to waste drew attention to the fact that we could instead donate it back to the community”, says Dave Jensen of Utah Food Services.
Doug Curry of Utah Food Services adds, “The annual Thanksgiving holiday banquet has become a tradition
that has been going on in the community for 24 years and it is opened to anyone to attend. Whatever is left over from the Thanks-giving event at the Vivint Arena, we donate to Salt Lake City Mission to be used for their “Great Thanksgivings Banquet” meal on Thanksgiving Day that also feeds the hungry and homeless”.
At last year’s meal event, Utah Food Service served about 3,150 meals. It is community partnerships like those with Utah Food Service that helps Salt Lake City Mission provide for so many in thousands in need.
Utah Food Service was recognized by the “The Governor’s Golden Key Award” for their outreach program, which provides employment opportunities for the mentally and physically challenged, individuals in recovery programs, retirees, youth groups and political refugees.
