Who Are The Homeless

They are hungry and hurting people—men, women and children and contrary to popular belief, the fastest growing population of poverty and homelessness is women with children under the age of nine.

They are your neighbors! They are human beings and not just the labels like: homeless, bums, hobos, drug addicts, alcoholics, chronically homeless, mentally ill, ex-cons, jailbirds, felons, etc. These are the labels that have been placed on them to remove them from humanity. So, we can justify not doing much or anything to help them.

But in reality, they are someone’s son or daughter that are eminently in need and in crisis! They are YOUR test right now. Jesus said “…Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." Matthew 25:34-40.

They aren’t lazy, they are normal people. But they can’t get up on their own without support. And they will never get up if you are standing on them, no matter how hard you pull on them trying to make them get up.

“For more than 22 years of ministry here in Salt Lake, I have found that people experiencing homelessness are from all walks of life. They are from every fabric and every class of society. They are doctors, lawyers, dentists, CEOs, millionaires, professors, educators, teachers, construction workers, diesel mechanics, computer technicians, business owners, laborers, migrant workers, custodians, the mentally ill, the addicted, veterans with PTSD, state-raised children, the abused… “.

  • Pastor Wayne Wilson, CEO

The truth is that they are hurting human beings in crisis. They are people in need of OUR HELP, LOVE and COMPASSION, and if WE don’t help them who will?

There is a song that goes something like this: “with all the hurting and pain in the world.  I couldn’t stand it anymore. So, I got down on my knees and cried out to GOD, ASKING GOD why don’t YOU do something and HE answered. I did, I created YOU!!!”

None of the people you see on the streets ever dreamed, wished or hoped to be homeless on the streets. Like us, that was never the height of their ambition.

Every one of us could end up in the same situation. All it takes is for our life to cave in on us. Some of life’s devastating blows are enough to leave us out on the street. Whether it is a financial problem, a physical problem, our mental health deteriorates, we experience death, divorce, or abuse, etc. Anything beyond what we can handle is enough to leave us on streets trying to drown out our pain and sorrows right along those we turn away from!

The question we should be asking ourselves is:
If YOU were homeless wouldn’t YOU want someone to HELP YOU?

Who would you want to help you?

A cold, insensitive Government Agency?  State-raised children proves that this solution does not work.

A Non-Profit Organization?

They are there most of the time, except when you really need them. Like on holidays, when it is the most unbearable time to be alone and on the streets. They say they love you and want to help you but you can tell that they really do not by their actions. They are a social welfare organization that has a form of Godliness but denying the power there of. They just don’t have the life changing power of GOD that you need to get out of the situation that you find yourself stuck in…

You have tried everything and help from every agency and organization. You have found yourself in a situation that you know that only GOD can mend and deliver you from.

So, wouldn’t you want God’s help? Wouldn’t want God’s chosen people to help you and let him love and help you through them?

Well, we have good news for you!
