IMPACT STATMENT - FACTS AT A GLANCE 1993 - 2016

24th ANNIVERSARY MILESTONES


Over 3.5 Million Meals Served - 3.7 Million Articles of Clothing Distributed to the Needy and Over 406,561 Lives Impacted and Changed

Established 1986 Spectacular Ministries of the Lords’ Servants to minister to the incarcerated and disfranchised in the Utah State Prison, and then in 1993 the Salt Lake City Mission branch which was established to help the homeless disenfranchised and poor become independent, productive members of society through a life centered in Jesus Christ. The Salt Lake City Mission staff, management and board are committed to helping all people who have a genuine need and depravation, regardless of race, creed, religion, age or national origin. The Salt Lake City Mission provides emergency services and long-term recovery programs; we help meet the physical, mental, educational and spiritual needs of families, children and individuals.

IMPACT RESULTS - FACTS AT A GLANCE 2015 - 2016 Fiscal Year


During this past year, The Salt Lake City Mission has provided blessings to the community as follows:

 

  • Watched over 2,243 people make faith decisions for Christ.

  • Served over 400,241 meals to the destitute and needy of Utah throughout this year.

  • Provided Breakfast – Monday – Friday in the Wigand Center Court Yard, from our portable kitchen unit, serving 7,193 meals a week, over 31,099 meals a month and over 373,185 a year.

  • Held special “All Day Homeless Outreaches” at Pioneer Park, on Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Back to School Supply Give Away, Labor Day and a Baby Shower homeless single mothers, serving over 13,629 hot prepared meals at these events.

  • Provided 717 Turkey Baskets that provided over 5,262 Thanksgiving meals to destitute families in dire need.

  • Served a “Delicious” Thanksgiving Dinner to over 4,100 at Energy Solutions Arena the Tuesday before Thanksgiving

  • On Thanksgiving Day served a “Delicious” Thanksgiving Dinner to over 3,541 at “The Christian Life Center”   

  • Provided over 676 Households with Christmas Boxes, including Turkey’s, Ham’s, Trimmings & Toys with Eagle Ranch.

  • Distributed over 12,059 pantry style meals in food boxes to needy families that provided over 48,236 meals.

  • On Christmas Day served over 3,100 “Delicious” Christmas Dinners. We also over 6,200 wrapped Christmas presents to needy and homeless men, women, and children.

  • On New Year’s Day served 3,248 “Delicious” New Year’s Meals with the help of 400 volunteers assisting.

  • Provided 54,561 people with over 605,335 pieces of clothing, household goods, furniture and appliances.

  • Graduated 17 men from Phase I, 11 from Phase II, and 3 from Phase III to self-sufficiency in our Long-Term Men’s Recovery Programs.

  • Watched 3 men in our Recovery Programs received their Associates Degrees; 2 men received their Bachelor’s Degrees through the Sure Foundation Theological Seminary.

  • Conducted more than 3,570 counseling sessions to needy souls.

  • Provided co-pays for hearing aids, eyeglasses and prescription medication for our clients.

  • Facilitated GED’s, Vocational Rehabilitation assistance and college for homeless people and men in our Recovery Programs.

  • Through “Salt Lake City Street News,” created over 326 active self-employment opportunities for the homeless.

  • Conducted over 26,720 hours of Bible Studies, Life Skills Classes, Group Sessions & Counseling Sessions

  • Received encouragement and support from over 4,927 Volunteers that performed over 301,856 hours of service to the needy and destitute throughout the year.

There is so much more that we as a community need to do… Since 1993 our vision of “providing real change and not just spare change...” energizes and encourages us to reach out even further to help more...

We need your help now to expand our capacities to serve even more of our hurting homeless population that has greatly increased through this bad economy.
